Welcome
Welcome to [Marina name]. This handbook explains how we work, what we expect, and who to ask when you are not sure. It takes effect on [Effective date]. Your manager is [Manager name], reachable at [Manager contact].
This handbook is a guide. It is not a contract, and we may update it. We will tell you when it changes.
Hours and pay
- Schedules are posted in advance. Seasonal hours may change with weather and demand.
- Record all time worked accurately. Do not work off the clock.
- You are paid [Pay schedule].
- Tell your manager as early as you can if you will be late or absent.
Safety on the docks
- Wear a life jacket when the task or the weather calls for it, and always when working alone near the water.
- Walk, do not run, on docks and ramps.
- Only staff trained and cleared by the manager may operate lifts, forklifts or customer boats.
- Report every injury, near miss or unsafe condition to your manager the same day.
- Stop work and get off the docks when lightning is near.
Fuel and hazardous materials
Only staff who have read and signed the fuel dock procedure may work the fuel dock. Know where the spill kits, fire extinguishers and emergency shutoffs are. Label and store chemicals as your manager shows you.
Working with customers
Be friendly, clear and honest. If you do not know an answer, say so and find out. Do not make promises about repairs, prices or slip availability unless your manager has said you may.
Respect at work
We do not allow harassment or discrimination. If something happens that makes you uncomfortable, tell your manager or the owner. You will not be punished for making a report in good faith.
Alcohol and drugs
Do not work while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Do not drink alcohol on shift, even when customers offer.
Phones and social media
Keep personal phone use for breaks unless you need it for work. Do not post photos of customers or their boats without permission.
Leave and time off
Ask for time off as early as you can. Federal and state leave laws may give you rights not listed here. Ask your manager about them.
Acknowledgment
